WISL Men’s Recap: Bellingham Edges Tacoma, Snohomish Rallies, South Sound and Everett Draw

In a battle between the top two clubs in the WISL, Bellingham United edged the Tacoma Stars Reserves 7-6 in a back-and-forth matchup after building an early cushion and holding off a late push. Bellingham struck three times in the first period, including a power-play goal in the final seconds, to take a 3-0 lead. Tacoma responded with two second-period goals from Ash Apollon and Andres Zuluaga to cut the deficit to one, but Bellingham answered in the third with three goals, two on the power play, to extend the lead to 6-3 despite a Luis Chavez power-play tally for Tacoma. Chavez added another power-play goal early in the fourth, but Ivan Colin completed a hat trick to restore Bellingham’s three-goal advantage. Tacoma made it interesting late with goals from Apollon and Gil De La Luz, yet Bellingham held on for the one-goal win. Tacoma outshot Bellingham 31-28, while Colin led all scorers with three goals.

Snohomish Sky rallied for a 5-4 win over the Oly-Pen Force in a tightly contested matchup that featured multiple lead changes. After a scoreless first period, Oly-Pen opened the scoring midway through the second before Anthony Henry tied it for Snohomish, only for the Force to regain the lead late in the frame. Snohomish took control in the third period with three unanswered goals from Cesar Zavalza, Henry, and Liam Raney to build a 4-2 advantage, though Oly-Pen answered to keep the game close. The Force tied the match early in the fourth on a power-play goal, but Snohomish responded with the decisive tally from Marcus Swanson. Snohomish outshot Oly-Pen 28-20, with Henry scoring twice to lead the Sky offense.

South Sound FC and Everett City FC played to an entertaining 6-6 draw in WISL Men’s action, with both sides trading goals throughout a fast-paced, back-and-forth contest and neither team able to pull away.

WISL Women’s Recap: Snohomish Sky Dominates Oly-Pen, Tacoma Galaxy Pulls Away Against Bellingham

Snohomish Sky dominated Oly-Pen Force in a WISL Women’s matchup, winning 16-1 in a lopsided contest. The Sky jumped out to a commanding 6-0 lead in the first period and continued to score consistently throughout the game, with contributions from Anna Roslander, Danielle Strumbeta, Elina Seppala, Anne Ferguson, Chalise Baysa, and Mariah Biegaj. Oly-Pen Force managed a lone goal on a third-period penalty kick by Lauren Hudson, but Snohomish kept up relentless pressure, adding ten more goals across the third and fourth periods. Snohomish outshot Oly-Pen 24-4, showcasing a complete team performance and overwhelming Oly-Pen both offensively and defensively.

Tacoma Galaxy pulled away for a 13-6 WISL Women’s victory over Bellingham United, building an early lead with three first-period goals and never looking back. Nikayla Milby led the way with multiple goals, supported by Jordyn Bartleson, Alyssa Andrews, Ashlyn Armstrong, and Peyton Chick. Bellingham kept the game competitive with early strikes from Morgan Manalili and later goals from Emily Webster, Jayden Nguyen, Claire Potter, and Gabby Brower, but Tacoma’s balanced attack and consistent scoring across all four periods secured the decisive win. Tacoma outshot Bellingham 30-22, dominating both offensively and defensively.
