WISL AGM Sets Stage for Growth, Expansion, and New Elite 90 Partnership

WISL Clubs Gather for Annual General Meeting, Set Course for 2026-27 Season

The Western Indoor Soccer League's club representatives met on June 14 for the league's Annual General Meeting, outlining plans for continued growth, improved fan experiences, expanded competition opportunities, and stronger partnerships throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Following another successful season that saw the Snohomish Sky Women capture the league championship on the women's side (for their second consecutive WISL title and 5 title overall) and Bellingham United took back the trophy from Tacoma Stars Reserve's multiple titles in a big win at Tacoma Soccer Center for the visitors. We've had strong competition across both divisions, league members approved several initiatives designed to strengthen the WISL on and off the field.

Growth Remains a Priority

The league confirmed its commitment to expanding throughout the Pacific Northwest, with discussions ongoing with potential clubs in Oregon and additional Washington markets with a goal of finding more leagues and teams to align with from neighboring states. The WISL is in talks with MASL3 leadership on potential collaboration.

The league is also working to grow the women's division, which completed its fourth season in 2025-26. Expansion opportunities currently being explored include Gig Harbor, with additional conversations taking place throughout the region.

Improved Fan Experience Through Streaming and Technology

One of the major topics discussed was improving the way fans watch and follow the league.

Clubs reviewed new streaming technologies and a long-term vision for a centralized WISL streaming platform that would allow supporters to easily find every match, highlight, and championship event in one location.

The league is also exploring partnerships and sponsorship opportunities that could help improve broadcast quality while reducing costs for clubs.

New Partnership with Elite 90

A major point of excitement coming out of the AGM was the league's new partnership with Elite 90 in Tukwila.

Elite 90 Soccer Center has quickly established itself as one of the premier soccer training facilities in the Pacific Northwest. Featuring state-of-the-art indoor fields, training spaces, and player development programming, the facility is becoming an important hub for the region's soccer community.

The WISL plans to utilize Elite 90 for league meetings and future event, training, competition opportunities. League leadership views the partnership as an important step toward creating a stronger year-round soccer ecosystem connecting youth, amateur, and adult players throughout the region.

"We want to continue building meaningful partnerships that help elevate soccer in the Northwest," said Commissioner John Crouch. "Elite 90 provides a tremendous facility and environment that aligns with where we want the league to go and we hope to do more with them in the future. We certainly appreciate the opportunity to host our AGM in their beautiful facility and learn more about it and their goals."

All-Star Event and Special Competitions

The league also continued planning for an expanded All-Star event during the 2026-27 season.

Among the concepts discussed was a unique mixed-gender All-Star format featuring standout men's and women's players from across the league to happen through the run of the season schedule. Additional details will be announced as planning continues.

The WISL will also continue exploring opportunities to host regional invitational events and championship tournaments, creating additional high-level competition opportunities for member clubs.

Commitment to Respect and Professional Standards

League representatives unanimously supported strengthening standards around sportsmanship and referee treatment.

The WISL has been a leader in protecting our officials unfair and dangerous treatment and formally adopted referee abuse and misconduct policies consistent with U.S. Soccer standards, reinforcing the league's commitment to providing a safe and professional environment for players, coaches, officials, and supporters. The WISL will remain committed to these initiatives.

Looking Ahead

The 2026-27 WISL season is expected to begin in November, with returning clubs from across Washington and British Columbia preparing for another competitive year of indoor soccer.

Additional announcements regarding schedules, expansion clubs, streaming plans, and special events will be made throughout the summer.

"We are excited about the energy that came out of the AGM, getting everyone into the building together really helps. When teams sit together in a room and work toward our common good, it works big time in the favor of the success of the league. In attendance, South Sound FC, Vancouver Storm (with players, league admin and founder), Tacoma Galaxy, Oly Pen Force, Snohomish Sky, with Bellingham United FC and Tacoma Stars Reserves joining remotely. Teams are energized on the success our league is having and excited for the future. We truly appreciate the efforts everyone made to be a part of this meeting and the work that we got out of it." Commissioner John Crouch said of the meeting.
