Tacoma Stars Reserves are the 2023-24 WISL Champs

In front of a packed house at the accesso ShoWare Center on March 3, 2024 the Tacoma Stars Reserves won their 5th WISL title and third in a row versus the only opponent they have ever met in a WISL final, the Bellingham United FC. 

Pictured here- The WISL released it's latest trophy hand crafted by Honan's Custom metals. Quinn has built trophies for both the EPLWA and WISL , this is the second trophy for the WISL.  

Scoring started in the 9th minute, with a GK goal by Luis Birrueta with BUFC answering quickly and ending the 1st quarter in a tie. Bellingham would go on a 4 goal run, sucking the hometown energy out of the building until the TSR could answer with 2 goals before half. 

At half, the WISL invited the NWPLi undefeated championship team on the field to celebrate their winning season and to plug the nationals campaign coming for them.

The second half was a much different game, with Tacoma only allowing the Hammers another goal early in the 3rd quarter and scoring 4 straight to take the win safely home.  

There were a lot of familiar faces playing on both sides in this familiar WISL Final matchup but a ton of young talent was on display that will surely contribute in larger ways in the future for both sides and beyond. 

Pictured here- John Snyder VP of Competition and Officiating for the WISL works with floor officials Taylor Vance and Craig Allen during a game break. Ben Warren and Kyle Greenwood were the 3rd and 4th officials, all ran a very organized and well officiated match. 

During the pro Stars game that followed, WISL and NWPLi players, coaches and staff as well as the champs, Golden Boot winner were recognized. Awards were also unveiled at the event including West Coast Goalkeeping GK of the Year and WISL all star teams. More to come on league awards this week in further web articles.
