New Clubs Set to Join WISL for 2026-27 Season

The Western Indoor Soccer League is preparing for another season of growth, with new clubs set to join the league for the 2026-27 campaign while familiar teams return to the competition.

On the men’s side, Halcones FC will join the WISL and play its home matches at the Tacoma Soccer Center. FC Olympia is also returning to the league, giving the men’s division a mix of new and familiar competition.

WISL Commissioner John Crouch welcomed the additions as the league prepares for the new season.

“Welcome to two new teams for this season, Gig Harbor Women and Halcones FC, playing out of Tacoma,” Crouch said.

For Halcones FC, the move into the WISL represents the next step for a club built around local talent and community involvement.

“Halcones FC was created with the goal of bringing together talented local players and building a competitive club in our community,” Halcones official Eliseo Guerrero said. “The name ‘Halcones,’ meaning ‘Falcons’ in Spanish, represents speed, strength, focus and determination.”

The Tacoma-based club enters the WISL after competing in local leagues and tournaments. Guerrero said the club is looking forward to testing itself against stronger competition while establishing its identity within the league.

“Before joining the WISL, we competed in local leagues and tournaments,” Guerrero said. “We’re excited to take the next step, compete at a higher level, represent our community and establish Halcones FC in the WISL.”

A major part of Halcones FC’s plans is developing players from the region. Guerrero said the club expects its roster to feature players from local leagues throughout King County and surrounding communities.

“Our players will come primarily from local leagues throughout King County and the surrounding areas,” Guerrero said. “One of our goals is to identify and develop young local talent, giving players an opportunity to compete, grow and showcase their abilities at the WISL level.”

That emphasis on local players could give Halcones FC an opportunity to serve as a bridge between recreational and competitive soccer in the region. The club will also have the chance to introduce its brand and style to a WISL audience while competing against established teams.

The addition of Halcones FC continues the WISL’s growth throughout the Pacific Northwest. With indoor soccer providing a fast-paced environment and opportunities for players to compete during the winter months, expansion clubs can offer another avenue for players looking to continue their development.

For Halcones FC, the upcoming season will be about more than simply entering a new league. The club wants to establish a foundation that can continue to grow.

The Tacoma Soccer Center will provide the club with its home-field setting as Halcones FC begins its first WISL campaign. Playing in Tacoma also gives the organization an opportunity to build a local following and connect with soccer fans in the South Sound.

Meanwhile, FC Olympia will return to the men’s side for the 2026-27 season. Its return adds another familiar name to the WISL and gives the league additional continuity as it welcomes Halcones FC.

The women’s side will also see expansion, with a new Gig Harbor women’s team joining WISL-W for the upcoming season.

The addition of a Gig Harbor club continues the league’s effort to expand opportunities for women’s indoor soccer in the region. The new team will give players in the South Sound another opportunity to compete at the WISL level and represents another geographic expansion for the women’s division.

With new clubs entering both the men’s and women’s competitions, the 2026-27 WISL season is shaping up to be another important year for the league.

For Halcones FC, the goal is clear: bring together local talent, compete at a higher level and build a club that can become part of the Tacoma soccer community.

“We’re excited to take the next step,” Guerrero said, “and represent our community in the WISL.”
