Everett City FC Falls in Season’s First Friendly at South Sound
The first preseason friendly of the 2025–26 WISL campaign for South Sound FC and Everett City FC took place on Oct. 11 and featured several firsts. It marked the inaugural semi-pro soccer match at the brand-new Jarzynka Field House and the first game for South Sound FC since relocating to Gig Harbor during the off-season.
In front of a sold-out crowd, South Sound FC raced out to a 13-2 victory over Everett.
Everett City’s Adrian Martinez spoke on the challenge of trying to find chemistry with the new roster.
“As a team I feel that we could’ve done more. But then again, we didn’t have our main guys we were missing around 5-6, and those numbers of players in the game of indoor is a whole different roster. That said we were trying out new blood, they didn’t really understand the game or our play style but they’re not the ones to blame for that, obviously, we didn’t have enough practices before this game was set up I believe we had only had tryouts and maybe 1 practice so it was pretty fast paced,” said Martinez

The match provided a valuable early test for both sides, offering a gauge of South Sound’s on-field potential and the strong community support the club can expect heading into its WISL campaign, which begins Nov. 8 when the side hosts Bellingham United.
