Bellingham Hammers Dominate Salish Rangers 10–0 in Preseason Exhibition

Hammers Control the Match from Start to Finish

In a preseason exhibition, the Bellingham Hammers cruised to a 10–0 victory over the Salish Rangers, who are playing a series of friendlies against Western Indoor Soccer League (WISL).

Bellingham’s experience and indoor soccer IQ were displayed as the Hammers calmly broke through Salish’s pressure and maintained possession throughout the match. The Hammers also executed flawlessly on special teams, converting each of their power plays while successfully killing the Rangers’ lone man advantage.

Henderson Leads by Example

Player-coach Richard Henderson — last year’s WISL Golden Boot winner and league MVP — led the way with a composed performance and one of Bellingham’s 10 goals. After the match, Henderson emphasized the value of the exhibition as a tune-up for the challenging road stretch ahead.

“It was great to get a run in as we prepare for a really difficult couple of away games,” Henderson said. “The score lines indoors can quickly get out of hand, which we’ve seen in several preseason games so far. For it being early in the preseason, I thought we executed several parts of our game model well, but there were abstract phases where we made the game much more difficult than it needed to be by not staying on message. We’ll need to address that if we want to take maximum points from our first games.”
